BOWLAND BEATS THE BEST
Bowland Brewery of Clitheroe have had the honour of winning the first ever ‘Admiral Lord Rodney Beer of the Year’ competition.
‘"Bowland Gold" was voted the best from a selection of over 250 beers from around the country by ‘The Rodneys’ locals. Bowland proprietor Richard Baker said ‘It’s great that our beers are so popular, and it’s an honour that the regulars at ‘The Rodney’ have voted for us’.
The landlord of the pub, Richard ‘Stedders’ Stedman said ‘We’ve had great fun in the past couple of months choosing our champion, but it was no surprise to a lot of our locals that Bowland was voted the best’, he added ‘Hopefully we will repeat the competition next year, then who knows...?’

"The fture of the Admiral Lord Rodney is uncertain following the decision by Richard (Stedders) not to take on the pub on health grounds. We wish him well on the future as he returns to the Bristol area. The pub is on the market for £385,000 - a ridiculous price! The "Sharps Week" to coincide with the Pendle Beer Festival was a great success and was followed almost immediately by a "Grindleton Week"."

"What a difference a landlord makes - well one that can look after the beer and has the ability to choose beers completely free of any tie. The Lord Rodney has been run by Richard Stedman for 4 months now and the quality and choice of beers just keeps on improving. Now with a regular, changing, Bowland beer alongside four other rotating guests Richard is keen to ensure all local breweries get a chance to go on the bar."
