PAST EVENTS

Since the 're-birth' of the Admiral Lord Rodney, we have been lucky enough to host a variety of events.

This page is to bring you up-to-date with the ones that you may have missed, but hopefully enjoyed with us.

Claude Bourbon

Saturday 29th March

This was supposed to be a surprise!!

Kelly & Steve had planned a 'Thank you Stedders' nite and, as Claude was by Stedders' own admission, his favorite act so far, Claude had been booked for the night. Unfortunately, due to Stedders' amazing powers of deduction and despite the efforts of the whole pub.. Kelly told him everything, admittedly under threat of torture & dismisal. So it was actually Stedders & Kelly keeping the secret from Steve & Claude that was the surprise in the end!

Despite Despite all this, Claude Bourbon didn't let us down and was fantastic as usual. A true friend to the Rodney!

Derrin Nauendorf

Friday 7th March

Our latest offering was this fantastic Aussie guitar/vocalist. Since appearing here several years ago his career has gone from strength to strength so we were really pleased to have him back. And what a night it was.
A fantastic mix of blues & Aussie Folk. God knows how his guitar stood up to the pounding!
In a text message the next day, Derrin told us that his night was ‘a blast’ and that he ‘loved every minute of it’.
A big thank you for making him so welcome
One of the 'Rodney's' busiest nights for a long time, hopefully it won't be the last time we see him

Kinda Kinks

Thursday 21st February

Waterside Sunset?
The’ Rodney’ rocked to the sound of the sixties with popular local tribute band ‘Kinda Kinks’. The set included all of the original band’s favourite hits such as ‘All day and all of the night’, ‘You’ve really got me’ and of course ‘Waterloo Sunset’.

In fact they were so good that another popular authentic sixties pastime occurred; a fight! Fortunately no one was damaged, but it certainly spiced up proceedings for a few minutes. Ellie, the troublemaker who started it said ‘It was just like the good old days between the ‘mods’ & ‘rockers’!’ he then added ‘Sorry, please don’t bar me’.

International Rescue

Thursday 17th January

Another fantastic night at the ‘Rodney’ as we played host to the popular 5-piece Soul Band, International Rescue. A good , hard feel to the music which was totally absorbing for the audience.

F.A.B boys!!

Moorland Folk

Thursday 13th December

Due to an unfortunate accident (in which the guitarist fell down the stairs!) the ‘Dalesmen’, due to perform on the 13th December had to cancel their show at the pub, as well as all other dates this year.  In the meantime, we were lucky enough to book a replacement outfit, ‘Moorland Folk’ from Darwin who came highly recommended by the ‘Dalesmen’. They had this to say about themselves:

“Moorland Folk play purely for fun, and it shows! We thrive on the highs of a good gig and enjoy live music in the raw, unpredictable and impromptu. We are more into the relaxation and “therapy” of sharing a fine song, than into musical correctness, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously”

Fused

Thursday 15th November

Wow! What a great night this was. An exiting local band playing everything from Hendrix & Pink Floyd to Snow Patrol & the Kaiser Chiefs.

Good to see a lot of new faces in that, hopefully, we shall see again. We certainly sold a lot more Carling than we normally would on a Thursday night!

It certainly was an evening when people let their hair down. Here are a couple of pics to give you a flavour of the evening.

Is that lager I see before me?

We look forward to seeing 'Fused' back sometime next year.

Claude Bourbon

Thursday 18th October

Well, he came, he saw... and he thrilled the pants off everyone with his fantastic sound.

Claue Bourbon goes down well at the 'Rodney' and we are so looking forward to having him back hopefully in June '08.

Claude Bourbon and his captured audience.

Some of his music was just unbelievably, well.. GOOD!

Montages of the most diverse forms of music. If you can imagine 'Strangers in the night' fused seamlessly with Ravel's 'Bolero' it will give you a small insight into what he treated us to, and more importantly, what  so many of you missed! Shame on you!

"I Love you Claude" - Stedders with Claude.

It was good to see; the 'Rodney' buzzing with so much good cheer you would have thought it was Christmas. Merci Claude.

Two Old Gits Play The Blues

HEAVIN! One of the Rodney's busiest nights (apart from 'the blues').

Fantastic music played by two of the country's most prestigious blue's veterans, King Rollo & Dr A. Plus a great guest spot from Graham Robinson playing in his own inimitable style!

King Rollo: “One of Britain’s finest acoustic blues performers” PAUL JONES, BBC Radio 2.

Dr A: "Some of the best blues piano I've ever heard" TONY NIGHTINGALE, Blues Matters Magazine

They'll be back!!!

The Great British Rythm & Blues Festival

Yep, every year it comes to this small, sleepy, Lancashire town we call home.

For four days the streets of Colne became a festival of some of the best music the country has to offer, and The Admiral Lord Rodney was lucky enough to host some of the best of it.

The Alligators, Dave Speight,  Lee Bates & Billy Newton, Mud in Your Ear, Claude Bourbon, Krissie Matthews Band, Sam Hird & the Steve French Band  and of course our very own Graham Robinson & Dr Ross the Wash-board Boss were just some of the great acts that thrilled the Rodney's audience.

We just can't wait til next year!
